MAHALO! “Fill a Plate, Transform a Life” Giving Campaign a Huge Success
Our plates and hearts are so full! Thanks to your generous gifts, we’ve exceeded our goal to raise $10,000 as part of our “Fill a Plate, Transform a Life” campaign. With the matching $10,000 gift, that means over $20,000 will be going toward our food services vocational training and apprenticeship program for those facing barriers to employment.
We cannot thank you enough for your support, especially during this difficult year. You’ve given us so much to hope for, and we look forward to continuing to serve our community in the upcoming year.
Given the overwhelming success of the campaign, it’s with deepest gratitude that we acknowledge our mystery matching gift donor: Mr. Harold Ayabe. Thank you, Mr. Ayabe, for your generosity and support of Touch A Heart!
If you contributed to our campaign and/or donated our Kupuna & Family Meals this year, you’ll be receiving a donation letter/receipt in January 2021.
Finally, we’d like to share some information about the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act giving incentives. All taxpayers should be informed that even if they take the ordinary standard deduction, if they give to charity, as part of the CARES Act giving incentives, everyone can take up to $300 as a special tax deduction in addition to the standard deduction. Those who itemize deductions can take up to 100% of their adjusted gross income as a deduction, and thus end up with no tax to pay. For more information, please read the article on the IRS website and/or consult with your accountant/tax professional.
